Seasons Greetings

 Celestial Wilde’s greeting of light…

Okay, so it’s the holiday season and everyone is going to be writing about the wonderful old days. Not me. I’m not a grinch or a scrooge. I don’t begrudge others their happiness or what it means to them, not at all. Happiness is a personal thing, but I just don’t look at this season that way.

I grew up with the massive, old-fashioned Christmas. Church on Christmas Eve, tons of food, gifts, love and positive vibes flowing for all of the month of December. My parents were great, yeah, I miss that. But you know what? I miss my parents (who were gone far too early) every fucking minute of everyday. So, that’s not really a change for me.

I really love Christmas lights! I love how everyone (almost) participates in bringing more light into their lives and into this whole cosmic stew in general. I do love the light, but you know come to think of it? I love artistic light installations at any time of the year! The absolute best one I ever saw was in Columbus, Ohio at the Franklin Park Conservatory by an artist named Bruce Monroe. If you’ve never heard of him you should really get online and check him out. Unbelievable work, a total mastery of light in it’s truest, most beautiful forms.

I like remembering these times with my parents. They didn’t get so stressed out over it because of things like Christmas Clubs, or over Christmas bonuses. They admitted that it usually took until March to pay it all off, so things weren’t all different for them! Today people will go into years of debt, a little more added every year. It has become common for one to charge their holiday expenses while still not having completely paid off the prior year.

Like most people seem to claim, I hate the commercialization of it. Why do I have to try to buy the love of my loved ones one day a year? If you need to rate my love for you based upon the amount I do/do not spend on your Christmas gift; well then I haven’t been doing my job as your loved one all year. The people that I love should know every day that I love them. If I am not making that clear to them, then I need to do better every day. Not trying to fix it with some big, expensive gift on one particular day of the year!

I’d really like to know why is it only in December that people throw around false happy greetings. Why is there only “peace and good will to all” just the one month of the year?If we spread that out over twelve months we could have a little better than two and a half days of it every month! If we were better human beings wouldn’t there be peace and good will to all every single day? If you can do it for month maybe we can work towards another month every year.

During my morning meditations I give thanks every day and send out my good vibes to the earth as strong as I can. Those are going out not just for a few, but to the whole universe, to our collective consciousness. I don’t want anything bad to happen to anyone ever. I practice this the year round. Although it has become a cliche, everyone really should realize that every single day in and of itself is a gift – that is why it is called the present.

I will celebrate the solstice, December 21st this year. It is the shortest day of the year and marks the “rebirth” of the sun. The days will begin getting progressively longer thereafter. It means that more light is brought into our world, so yeah, I’m gonna celebrate that! This will not be celebrated with expensive gifts that will probably end up in someone’s basement. I will not celebrate by sending out invitations, obligating people to get dressed up, arrive with gifts and end up having to miss a day of work because of the morning after. If you know me and are a loved one you know where I am, what I’ll be doing and that you are welcome. There will be food, lots of it, to mark the abundance that a new year with much light will bring the earth. I will launch a set of those floating Chinese lanterns, a token of my appreciation to the power of the light and it’s life giving rays. On that day I will feel happy and grateful that the light will be returning.

So I send you all love and light, but since I do this every time I will mark the season to say…

Love, light and Peace!

Celeste
